I am looking for an affordable web hosting company to host a relatively small static marketing site.
I would like the protection that Firehost.com offers (intrusion monitoring/prevention) which protects your site against most automated drive-by attacks and scans. Problem is, they charge a minimum of 0 a month. I was looking for something cheap along the lines of GoDaddy or iPage but they don’t offer security services other than SSL or SSH access. Any ideas?
@ Alexander W,
I should have been more specific about the nature of the site. For the most part it is static. It does have very limited form functions and a tiny bit of PHP. Due to the nature of the site (IT related) it is often a target of hackers. Beside the normal day to day automated drive-by attacks, there were a number of targeted attacks against the site, underlying web server, and OS. While you can secure your code to the best of your ability, there are still other factors such as shared environments, system patching etc to consider and monitor. If I had the time and a few extra bucks, I would feel safer hosting it myself, but I don’t. With that being said, responses to this question should only be names of hosting companies and when possible, any additional information as to why they would be a good choice.

KoolHosting doesn’t provide any public phone number for support, just a page/form where I can leave my info.

Also, their support page just takes you to a forum in which all of the topics and categories list 0 posts and 0 threads. Doesn’t look too promising.

If its a static site, you don’t need any application level security (beyond what almost all hosts provide).
If you are only using HTML and CSS, there is no attack surface on the site. Just get a host that offers a VPS in the price range you are looking for, dont turn on anything you dont need (SSH and HTTP should be the only open ports) and use strong passwords on SSH.
KoolHosting.net is your best solution to your problem. Just request them you need extra protection for your website, they will provide it for you for free, but you need to be hosted with them and need to own a domain. I had experience at there and i say they make a job well done.
