I’ve been tasked with recommending a host for a client and they showed interest in iPage.com I’ve never had an account with them before and this feature caught my attention:
“Automate Your Site Backup for .95/year
Protect your site with this automated daily backup. Easily restore lost and damaged files directly to your account.”
This seems gimmicky to me. They make it sound like unless you pay this fee they won’t backup any of your data on their servers, but this sounds ridiculous to me for a hosting company. Does anyone know what this actually means?
Chosen Answer:
1. I would not recommend iPage hosting.
2. Yes, it sounds like you have to pay iPage for automated backups.
3. NEVER rely on your web hosts backups! That’s a nightmare waiting to happen. Always create your own offline backups.
